To be a professional travel photographer was always my dream. I love to travel, although I find it very different from taking photos while you are traveling as to travel to take photographs.
I quickly realized that I must be in the right place at the right time all the time!
Most travel photographers travel solo, while I enjoy the presence of my family and we go on adventures together.
Fortunately for me, my wife is a talented photographer too and her ability to operate a drone is great value for achieving travel photography projects. As we have two daughters who show talent in creative arts and photography, they also help me to achieve my goal by helping as photography assistants or models
To be a successful travel photographer requires a few key characteristics and skills;
Firstly, you have to be a charismatic person who can make quick connections with people.
You have to be organized with the ability to plan and execute photoshoots in changing weather and light conditions.
You have to be strong mentally and healthy physically with a good degree of fitness.
To be able to adapt quickly to new places and cultures.
To be a respectful person to other people, cultures, and religious beliefs.
To remain calm and confident with a touch of optimism when things don’t go your way.
To be patient until the decisive moment appears.
In general, travel photographers need to be military officers, planners with clear flight and accommodation schedules, timetables to photograph a place at the right time with the ability and fitness to carry your belongings and equipment securely like a local porter. To negotiate prices and entry to places like a diplomat, to be a skilled driver and a keeper and eventually if everything goes as planned, to be a visionary talented photographer.
